The PFAS water contamination issue in Svenson Heights is the first in Australia to date that's affected a town's water supply. While chief health officer of Queensland Dr Jeannette Young stopped into town yesterday, assuring locals the water in Bundaberg today is perfectly safe for people to consume. She says those in the area should go to their GP's with questions, who can organise tests. While Dr Jeannette says there are no clear answers as to what impact the chemical will have. She says anyone who who has chickens in the area and who eats the eggs, should avoid them for the next month. Similarly people should wait a month to eat fruit and vegetables grown in the area.
