It’s officially the season of wild weather and to help residents clean up and clear out unwanted household items, Bundaberg Regional Council is hosting a garage sale of epic proportions.
The Super Saturday Garage Sale will kick off on Saturday, 3 November, and Council is urging the community to get on board while preparing for storm season.
Mayor Jack Dempsey said the garage sale event would be simple and free to participate in and featured many added benefits, including the opportunity to make a bit of cash while cleaning up.
“If you have a surplus of unwanted items lying around the home then this garage sale is for you,” he said.
“Not only will residents have the opportunity to join in on a region-wide event and profit from their unwanted items, it’s also a perfect opportunity to give the house a spring clean in time for storm season.”
Mayor Dempsey said Council would assist with the promotion of garage sales for registered households.
“All you need to spread the word about your garage sale will be supplied by Council including a poster which you can display in your area.
“Garage sale enthusiasts will have access to an easy-to-navigate map both in interactive and print form to find your sale on the day,” he said.
“For those wishing to hold their own garage sale - the more the merrier! We are encouraging people to join with their neighbours and hold a street sale to really boost this fantastic initiative.
“We hope it gives residents the incentive to properly prepare their homes and properties for storm season.”
