Bushfire Prevents School From Opening

Just In Template
Wartburg State School will remain closed on Tuesday due to bushfires in the area.

The Department of Education is following the advice of emergency services in keeping the school closed and will always act in the interests of the safety of students and staff and their families.

The department will continue to follow emergency services’ advice and will keep the school community informed of future developments and when the school will be open.

Up-to-date information on Queensland state school closures can be found at https://closures.det.qld.gov.au/.

Parents with children at independent schools in the area should check with individual schools as to any particular local arrangements.

Parents with children who attend an Early Childhood Education Centre are asked to contact the centre if they are unsure as to whether it will be closed.

The Department urges parents, families and children to not take risks, and be especially cautious during extreme weather events such as bushfires.

Residents should listen to their local ABC Radio service for updates and advice as this situation progresses.

Further information about current weather conditions can be found on the Bureau of Meteorology website at www.bom.gov.au and updates on local conditions on QFES social media accounts.
