Police are investigating the reported impersonation of police officer in Maryborough last month.
It's alleged the female occupant of a Churchill Street residence was approached by a man wearing what looked like a light blue shirt and dark pants, who looked very professional.
The man asked multiple personal questions which made the elderly person believe they were a police officer.
Some of the information given to the man was quite personal in nature.
Police say it is alarming to think that face to face scammers are out and about attempting to find out personal information from residents.
Authorities asking residents to be aware, be vigilant and if someone is on your property asking questions and they do not have legitimate identification think twice.
It is a requirement that all police officers must produce official police identification when requested from a member of the public.
Investigations are continuing.
