Bundaberg Man Accused Of Lying To Protect Mate

A 24-year-old Coonarr man is accused of lying to protect the real driver of a car which refused to pull over for Police.

On August 7 police spotted a vehicle in Kepnock with officers able to identify the male driver and his female passenger.

It will be alleged the vehicle failed to stop for police when they attempted to intercept it on Baker Street after checks confirmed the driver was unlicensed.

It is further alleged that later that day an affidavit was taken out claiming a different man was the driver of the vehicle with this affidavit then provided to investigating police.

A 24-year-old Coonarr man was located and arrested and issued with a notice to appear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on September 2 charged with evade police, unlicensed driving, false declarations and attempting to pervert justice.
