Man Charged After Church Burns In Walkervale

UPDATE | Police have charged a man after a Church went up in flames in Bundaberg on Tuesday.  

Just before 4:00AM, emergency services were called to Barolin Street following reports a building was engulfed in flames.

The church, which was unoccupied at the time, was completely destroyed by the blaze.

A 42-year-old Bundaberg West man was later charged with one count each of arson, enter with intent and attempted arson.

He will appear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Wednesday.  

No one was injured during the fire.

EARLIER | Firefighters have been called to a structure fire in Walkervale.  

They were called to a Church on Barolin Street and Boston Street at around 3:50AM on Tuesday.

They found the aged structure engulfed in flames.

The extent of the damage is still unknown and investigations are ongoing at this stage.
