Funding has been secured for two key road projects in the region.

Callshave been answered with money being allocated for an upgrade to the FE Walker Street, Ashfield Road intersection and the instillation of turning and merging lanes in and out of estates on the Isis Highway at Branyan.

Member for Budaberg David Batt said concerns about Bundaberg roads is one of the most frequent issues brought to his attention.

“Over the years, hundreds of residents have contacted me with concerns about these two road projects and I’d like to take this opportunity to again thank them for taking the time do to so.

“I have continually written to the Minister, launched petitions, spoken and asked questions in Parliament and regularly liaised with our local TMR management team to secure funding for these projects so I am over the moon to see the Government finally listening to our community’s calls for improvements to be made.

“$1.15 million has been committed to installing traffic lights at the intersection of FE Walker Street and Ashfield Road, which will drastically improve the safety of this intersection.

“$576,000 has also been committed for the instillation of merging and turning lanes at Kingston Town Way on the Isis Highway and another $555,000 for turning lanes at Park Estate Drive, also on the Isis Highway.

“Securing these funding commitments from the Government truly shows that hard work and persistence does pay off.”
