Queensland bans Sydneysiders over COVID concerns

The Queensland Premier has announced a ban on all visitors arriving from Greater Sydney as of 1am on Saturday.

Overnight, two news cases of COVID-19 emerged in Sydney.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said intensive contact tracing is underway.

"We have done this to ensure we give notice to Queenslanders who may want to return home, she said.

"We are in extraordinary times at the moment and we have to do everything we can.

"Queenslanders should not be travelling to Sydney."
