Bundaberg residents are being urged to register as an organ donor, to help the more than 1700 Australians waiting for transplants.
It comes as July 26 - August 2 marks DonateLife Week 2020.
Bundaberg Hospital organ donation specialist nurse co-ordinator Karen Jenner said people should have a chat about organ donation with loved ones.
"It's your family that's going to give the final consent," Mrs Jenner said.
"When people have registered, 9 out of 10 families then go ahead. That drops down to about 5 or 6 if people aren't sure of their loved ones wishes."
Mrs Jenner said one donor can save up to 10 lives and it only takes a minute to register.
"Click 'join the register', add your medicare card, it literally takes 60 seconds," Ms Jenner said.
