Concerning new police figures have shown a big jump in assault rates in the Bundaberg region.
Reports of the crime have doubled from 19 in the month of April to 40 in August.
Officer in charge of Bundaberg Police Senior Sergeant Michael McGarry said the peak of these crimes is usually in summer.
"People tend to drink more alcohol so we're just appealing to the community to drink in moderation," Mr McGarry said.
"We don't want to see anyone assaulting, assaults can end up in people sustaining injuries and we certainley don't want to see that."
