NSW man pretends to be cop for fast food

A Corrective Services NSW officer has been charged after he allegedly pretended to be a police officer and demanded a discount at a fast food restaurant.

Police were called after the man, who told staff he was an off-duty police officer, demanded a discount at a fast food restaurant about 12.40pm on Saturday.

Inquiries revealed the 43-year-old man was an employee of Corrective Services NSW. He was arrested about 10.40am on Monday and charged with impersonating a police officer and obtaining a benefit by deception.

The man has been granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Waverley Local Court on January 22. He has been suspended from his job.
