10 Films to Watch Before You Play CyberPunk 2077

Some are saying that Cyberpunk 2077 is the most anticipated game of the year. But if you’ve been following it since CD Projekt Red announced its initial development then you’d know it’s the most anticipated game of the decade.

It was first announced in 2012 with a teaser trailer in 2013. Following that were multiple updates to the public that fueled more and more interest in the game especially at the major gaming conventions. But it wasn’t until they announced a release date that the game saw some issues.

They announced an April 2020 release but that was followed by pushing it back to September, then November and eventually releasing on December 10, 2020.

Now the game is out and although some people are reporting bugs that make the game “unplayable” a majority of the reception has been very positive. Most critic scores have fallen in the 8 to 10 range (out of 10) with fan responses online spreading like a “positivity wildfire”. In fact, there are more Australias searching for “Cyberpunk” on Google currently than “Coronavirus” and it 2020, that seems unheard of.

10 Films to Watch Before You Play CyberPunk 2077

If you’ve never heard of Cyberpunk before then you might like to know that it’s built on an existing role-playing game similar to “Dungeons and Dragons” that was designed in 1988 and inspired by Philip K Dick’s short story “Do Robots Dream of Electric Sheep” which was also the inspiration for the movie Blade Runner in 1982 starring Harrison Ford.

Blade Runner is still the closest depiction of CyberPunk on the big screen but there are more films that are worth watching if you want to do some science fiction research before you play the game and while they are not purely “Cyberpunk” they do feature similar concepts.

They include:

Total Recall

Johnny Mnemonic

Ghost in the Shell

Demolition Man

Alita: Battle Angel

Minority Report

Now the game is here and the world is immersing in a deep sci-fi story with amazing options in the way you choose to play it.

As a role-playing game, you will build your character up with certain attributes based on the way you want to play. Do you want to be a hacker, or be awesome with guns, maybe you prefer stealth and a sword. The options are limitless, in fact, there are so many side missions activated by choice that you may play the game through and not see one that your friend has accomplished.

Cyberpunk 2077 features an all-star cast including Keanu Reaves as a main character in the story but also the likes of Grimes and Elon Musk make appearances.

We’ll have more Cyberpunk news coming so keep checking back as we explore the new virtual world of “Night City”.
