The LNP has retained Hinkler following Keith Pitt’s resignation.

He is hoping his experience in other levels of government will help when advocating for our region, especially being in opposition.

“All we want to do is make sure now that Labor with what they’ve said they’re going to do they move forward with it,” he says.

“It didn’t seem to happen the last three years with their commitments from the last election until now so we can only hope that, especially for the people of Hinkler, that with the promises Labor have made I can continue to fight for Hinkler and make sure they bring those promises forward.

“No matter whether you voted LNP or you didn’t I just want to be a great person to lead the Hinkler region to be able to listen to people right across the region from Bundaberg down to Hervey Bay and everywhere in between and be a strong voice in Canberra for the Hinkler region.”

Despite the LNP securing the win in Hinkler there’s been an almost 8 per cent swing towards Labor and smaller rises for minor parties including One Nation and the Greens.

In Flynn, which includes Moore Park Beach and Gin Gin, the LNP’s Collin Boyce has retain his seat winning a second federal term.
