Fall Out Boy are not falling apart to halftime as they celebrate the 20th anniversary of their iconic breakthrough album, From Under the Cork Tree.
To honor their major label debut, the band is releasing a special anniversary edition of the album, featuring remastered tracks and exclusive box sets. Set to drop on October 17, the collection will be available in vinyl, CD, and digital formats.
The special editions will include a treasure trove of bonus content including acoustic renditions, remixes, live recordings, B-sides, and even unique tour memorabilia. Fans will also find an exclusive letter from bassist Pete Wentz, alongside rare collectibles like a “Dance, Dance” prom photo and a comic book cover inspired by the “A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More ‘Touch Me’” music video.
In tandem with this announcement, Fall Out Boy has finally made their cover of ‘Gorilla Biscuits’ “Start Today” available on streaming platforms. Originally featured on the Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland soundtrack in 2005, the track was previously inaccessible on streaming services, becoming a sought-after gem for die-hard fans.
From Under the Cork Tree marked Fall Out Boy’s commercial breakthrough, debuting in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 and propelling pop-punk into the mainstream during the early 2000s emo era. The album delivered chart-topping hits like “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” and “Dance, Dance,” earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, and solidified their reputation for infectious hooks and poignant lyrics.
Beyond its commercial achievements, the album remains a cornerstone of pop-punk history. Its influence is undeniable, with Rolling Stone naming it one of the best albums of the 21st century and praising Pete Wentz’s lyricism for inspiring artists like Taylor Swift, whose hit “Blank Space” draws from his style.
Reflecting on the album’s lasting impact, Fall Out Boy shared their gratitude and nostalgia in a heartfelt Instagram announcement, inviting fans to relive the magic of From Under the Cork Tree two decades later.
“This record changed our lives forever. It’s wild to still be singing these songs together 20 years later & even better that you’re still singing them back.”
