Max Verstappen made headlines earlier this week when he revealed that he drove an Aussie Supercar. But the bigger surprise came when the four-time F1 world champion expressed interest in racing in the Bathurst 1000.

Interestingly, Verstappen dismissed the possibility of competing in NASCAR or IndyCar, despite the presence of several former F1 drivers in those series.

On Thursday morning, the Red Bull Racing and Triple Eight Supercars teams confirmed his Supercar test in separate Instagram posts where Verstappen was among a group of drivers sampling historic Ford race cars.

This collaboration comes as Red Bull Racing and Racing Bulls prepare to switch to Ford Powertrains for the 2026 season, strengthening the ties between Red Bull’s F1 and Supercars teams.

The video series also featured a surprise cameo from beloved Aussie and former F1 race winner Daniel Ricciardo. It marked his first reunion with Verstappen since Ricciardo’s departure from F1 in 2024.

Ricciardo has deepened his connection with Ford and Red Bull Racing and after months of speculation, he confirmed his new role as a global racing ambassador for Ford Racing.

In this position, the Perth native acts as a bridge between Red Bull and its new engine partner and fans are eager to see him more frequently around Red Bull garages this year.

Ricciardo also teased a collaboration between his lifestyle brand, Enchanté, and Ford Racing.

In a joint social media post, he reflected on his career, saying: “For me, racing was always about having fun. It made me happy and created memories that will last a lifetime.”

So, what do you think, would you like to see Max and Daniel reunite as teammates for a special Bathurst 1000 wildcard entry?
