Cool, wet start to summer

It’s the first day of summer, but doesn’t feel it in Queensland today.

Bundaberg is expecting a maximum temperature of just 23 degrees as a low pressure systems moves across the state.

It’s also brining plenty of rain to the region.

Gabriel Branesco from the Bureau of Meteorology says parts of the recorded between recorded between 50mm to 60mm overnight.

“We recorded in Bundaberg 61mm, Gayndah 55 and Mount Walsh, kind of a widespread area, so over 50mm across the Wide Bay.”

The Senior Forecaster says the wet and cool weather will continue over the coming days.

“This low continued to develop last night, and will continue to do so today, as it moves southeast offshore today and Friday…causing quite a bit of rainfall along the Queensland Coast.

“Maximum temperatures will be well below average.”

The heavy falls are expected to continue today.
