Dirt bike rider injured on K’gari

The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has flown a man to hospital after he was hurt in a dirt bike incident on K’gari (Fraser Island).

The rescue chopper flew to the eastern side of the island shortly after midday Sunday and landed at a helipad.

The man, aged in his 30s, had been riding with a group of other motorcyclists when the incident occurred.

A Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedic treated the rider at the scene before driving him to the helipad to meet with the rescue helicopter crew.

LifeFlight Rescue’s critical care doctor and QAS flight paramedic treated the man for shoulder and neck injuries.

He was airlifted to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
