Bundaberg Regional Council is seeking community feedback to help shape the next five years of arts and culture in the Bundaberg region.

A new Arts and Culture Strategy is being drafted which will cover things like events, libraries, theatre and visual arts across the region.

Council’s Arts and Heritage portfolio spokesperson Councillor John Learmonth says the community’s feedback would provide important guidance on the development of the strategy.

“Arts, culture, events and heritage are vital to ensuring our community remains vibrant, liveable and connected.

“We want to hear what matters most to the community because it’s critical the strategy reflects community priorities.

“The survey responses will help to identify future needs and opportunities for improvement.

“I encourage everyone to complete the survey and share your ambitions for arts and culture in our region.”

Cr Learmonth says implementing the strategy was a high priority for Council as part of its Safe Spaces, Thriving Places policy.

“Arts, events and heritage can play an important part in revitalising the Bundaberg CBD through pop-up activations, public art installations and increased visitation.

“The new strategy will help steer Council support and investment in arts and culture in ways that will celebrate and strengthen our unique regional identity.”

Participants can preview the questions before making their submission with the survey taking about 10-20 minutes to complete.

Submissions can be made until 6 February.

You can find the survey here.
