A large fire has broken out at the Bundaberg Waste Facility in Branyan overnight.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service says the blaze was contained by 4.25am but is still involved and is expected to continue to burn for some time.

Paramedics remain on standby at the scene and no injuries have been reported.

Bundaberg Regional Council is currently providing heavy machinery to separate rubbish piles and has closed the waste facility until further notice.

Commercial operators and residents who are unable to delay their waste facility trip should use the Qunaba Waste Facility in the meantime.

Bundaberg Regional Council will update the community as soon as the facility is able to reopen.
