National recognition for Bundy tourism operators

Local tourism experiences have been named as some of the best in the country.

The Australian Tourism Awards saw 75 prizes presented across 25 categories.

The Bundaberg Rum Distillery Visitor Experience backed up its previous two wins, once again taking home gold in the tourist attractions category.

Fellow Southern Great Barrier Reef operator, Fun Over 50 Holidays, also secured a win.

While the team at Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort snapped up a bronze in the ecotourism category.

Overall, Queensland accepted 16 accolades at this year’s national awards with seven gold, three silver and six bronze being awarded to exceptional Sunshine State operators.

“After a stellar year in which Queensland was Australia’s number one domestic visitor destination, it’s phenomenal to see so many of our operators recognised on the national stage,” says Queensland Tourism Industry Council CEO Brett Fraser

“We’ve always known Queensland is home to some of the best events, accommodation providers and experiences in Australia, and now it’s official. For Queensland to be awarded gold, silver or bronze in 16 of the 25 categories is exceptional.

“I invite all Queenslanders to spend their next weekend getaway or holiday exploring their own backyard and discovering these award-winning tourism experiences.

“While all the winners and finalists can be congratulated, we’re especially proud of Queensland’s remarkable success at this years’ national awards.”

Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe says it’s the state’s best result since 2018.

“Congratulations to all Queensland Awards winners and finalists on an absolutely magnificent result,” he says.
