The Primary Industries Minister has visited Bundaberg’s sugar cane growers in a bid to stimulate growth in the sector.
Tony Perrett met with key stakeholders with the Member for Burnett, Stephen Bennett.
Mr Perrett said Bundaberg is a significant food-producing region for Queensland.
“Cane growers and sugar processors across the state will play a key role in helping Queensland primary producers hit the ambitious target we have set to grow the value of primary production to $30 billion by 2030,” Mr Perrett said.
Stephen Bennett said the region’s agricultural sector is already worth $2 billion.
“It’s exciting to see what’s possible when government and industry work together,” Mr Bennett said.
Mr Perrett also visited the Port of Bundaberg as part of his tour.
