Because in 2025, Instagram unfollows are basically press statements.
Kelce pulls the plug on Reynolds
Travis Kelce, star player for the Kansas City Chiefs (and yes, Taylor Swift’s boyfriend), has unfollowed Ryan Reynolds on Instagram. Why? Well, it looks like he’s had enough of the mess surrounding Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively.

According to Page Six, Kelce’s decision is linked to Lively’s ongoing legal nightmare involving actor Justin Baldoni and a defamation case worth around $400 million. Yep, it’s as chaotic as it sounds.
Trying to dodge the drama
Kelce seems to be quietly backing away from the whole situation. And honestly, who can blame him? The legal saga has turned into a PR disaster for Lively and Reynolds, and Kelce clearly doesn’t want his name dragged into it.

It’s not confirmed whether this means the friendship is done for good or if Kelce’s just taking a break from the drama. Either way, the unfollow speaks volumes in celebrity land.
And what about Taylor?
No word yet from Taylor Swift’s camp, but she’s been keeping her distance from Lively too. The pop star was reportedly not thrilled about being named in Baldoni’s lawsuit and has been taking a step back ever since.
Back in February, Page Six claimed Swift felt like a “pawn” in the whole mess and needed some space. Fair enough, really.

Once close, now keeping quiet
Swift and Kelce used to be as thick as thieves with Lively and Reynolds double dates, red carpets, and the whole lot. Now? Not so much. Lively is said to have apologised to Swift, but it doesn’t sound like it fixed everything.

A source close to the singer said she’s enjoying low-key time with Kelce and laying low. Translation: no more drama, thanks.
So what now?
Neither Kelce nor Swift has commented publicly. But if you’re wondering whether an unfollow really means anything in celebrity circles, it absolutely does.
