Wearing white to someone else’s wedding is usually considered a fashion faux pas, unless the dress code explicitly calls for it.
In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Dua Lipa addressed the gossip surrounding her choice to wear a white dress at the wedding of Simon Porte Jacquemus and Marco Maestri back in August 2022.

The singer stunned in a sheer white dress featuring a mermaid silhouette, cap sleeves, and floral embellishments. While the outfit undoubtedly turned heads and “caused a little bit of a stir,” Dua explained she had a very good reason for her bold choice.
“The dress code was white,” she clarified. “From all the pictures, you can see everyone was dressed in white, so I don’t know why I got so much criticism for it.”
Adding further context, she revealed that the request for her outfit had come directly from the designer himself—Jacquemus, one of the grooms.
“He specifically asked me to wear that dress to his wedding,” she shared. “I absolutely loved it. I felt amazing in it—it was just unbelievable. Honestly, I still talk about that wedding to this day.”
However, Dua acknowledged that her look may have raised eyebrows for more than just its color. She admitted, “I think it was also because I was quite naked in it as well.”
As the “Levitating” star reminisces about Jacquemus’ wedding, she’s also preparing for her own big day. Dua recently got engaged to her boyfriend, Callum Turner, and confirmed their engagement earlier this year. Though no wedding plans are in motion yet, she gushed about her engagement ring and the exciting new chapter ahead.
