It’s the busiest time of year for Bundaberg’s Meals on Wheels team.

They’re working to get festive courses out to locals while stocking up enough frozen meals to last between the Christmas and New Year shutdown.

About 100 volunteers are working tirelessly to feed hundreds of locals who are away from their families for the holidays.

“Our business has actually grown substantially over the last couple of years with the need for more services in the Bundaberg region and with the government trying to keep residents in their own homes for longer,” says service manager Brendon Searle.

“We’re always looking for more drivers, more people that can help out in our kitchen with the prep work and dishing up of our meals and also in our garden. We have veggie gardens and also gardens out the front of Meals on Wheels that also need attending.”

If you can’t donate your time, Mr Searle says you can help out another way.

“We’re also selling raffle tickets as well so we do a big Christmas raffle so you might see us outside Discount Drug Store on Bourbong Street and those raffle tickets are also available for sale in the office,” he says.
