Expect to see more police on the beat.
A long-term operation has been launched to target criminal activities and improve community safety around the CBD.
Senior Constable Brittany Duncan says there will be a high police presence as patrols pick up.
“The community and shop owners will see more feet on the beat, walking the beat engaging with shop owners and the community and they’ll be preventing and disrupting street and retail crime,” she says.
Extra police from the Wide Bay Burnett District Tactical Crime Squad will supplement officers from Bundaberg in this operation.
It will target the Bundaberg CBD, Hinkler Shopping Centre, Sugarland Shopping Centre and parts of North Bundaberg.
“Our CBD officers will also be working in with Jack’s Law and doing the wanding to reduce knives being carried in our Safe Night Precinct and the associated violence that goes with that,” says Senior Constable Duncan.
“They’ll also be targeting stealing offenders, known offenders and known locations.”
